I'm Dumb This Is So Way Too Early CFB Top 25

Image
Welcome to #HLSBets Top 25s! Expanding from just putting out consistent winners each week in College Football, I will now be letting you into this crazy mind of how I breakdown these teams each week with a top 25 with breakdown of each team. Why each team is ranked where and how that effects gambling. I will NOT be ranking teams just for show and I will tell you right now the UCFs, Cincys, Libertys and Coastals of the world will NEVER be in my top 4 without a much better schedule than they play. You play in the JV conferences earn respect by beating one or two of the big boys.     As I write this it is March 30th, Spring ball for most schools has not even started yet. There is a LOT to learn over the next few months so take this ranking with a Mount Vesuvius sized grain of salt, one injury or breakout player here or there can blow this list wide open.  So we are on the same page this ranking is based off a few things:     -Returning Starters          Obvious impact in the positive

HLS Movie Awards Nominees: Streaming Award

Image
Welcome back to HLS Awards Nominees this weeks award is a big one for 2020, the Streaming Award. 2020 was a long dark year for every industry movies included. So this award is highlighting which streamers did a great job at pumping out great movies all year. Now I watched nearly 100 movies that were released in 2020 but obviously I did not hit them all. A common misconception about 2020 is that it was a bad year of movie releases, that is just not true we just had to find them in different locations aside from the theater for most of 2020.      Many, MANY, movies that were supposed to be wide theater releases were pulled from the schedule in the hopes of making money in 2021 and beyond. BUT a lot were scooped up by streaming services and put out to the masses online. This list includes streamers who did that, and those who put out their own original movies.      How this award was graded is based off not just quantity or quality alone but a scoring system of those two factors

HLS Movie Awards Nominees: Best Cinematography and Visuals

Image
Welcome back to HLS Entertainments Movie Awards Nominees! This weeks nominations come from the Visuals and Cinematography category. This category is filled with movies with beautiful shots and beautiful imagery, but is also filled with movies with great visual effects, so the shots may they be in camera, practical or cgi they all count and all are beautiful!     As a reminder as well this category only counts for movies that were released IN 2020, so movies that came out after new years eve do not count, the beautiful movies like Nomadland will not count. As well as a reminder that this in not in a ranking order it is in alphabetical order. Please hit that subscribe button at the top to sign up for email alerts so you do not miss a blog like last weeks  Best Actress nominations. Archive     This movie was a lost gem of 2020. Archive initially received poor reviews and it killed the movie, but as time has moved along more people are slowly finding this sci-fi flick and are enjo

Oscar Nominations Quick Reaction

Very quick late reaction to the official Oscar nominations. Please hit the subscribe button at the top to sign up for email reminders when blogs come out! Also follow me on Twitter @HaroldLStokes Doing this quick so it will go "category" "nominees" "reaction" Lets go Category : Best Picture 1. The Father 2. Judas and the Black Messiah 3. Mank 4. Minari 5. Nomadland 6. Promising Young Woman 7. Sound of Metal 8. The Trial of the Chicago 7     The two only real "surprises" here are, I am happy surprised that Promising Young Woman was nominated, incredible movie just is not top ten for me, and what in the hell does Another Round have to do to get this nomination. People being too lazy to read subtitles astounds me, you should have subtitles on 24/7 anyways in case you miss a word here or there, get over yourself or admit you are a slow reader and that is why you do not like them Category: Actor in a Leading Role Riz Ahmed - Sound of Metal Chadwi

HLS Movie Awards Nominees: Best Actress

Image
Welcome back to HLS Movie Award Nominees, this week we are doing the best performances by Actresses in 2020. For those who do not remember last year, or are new to reading my work, for the best actress / actor categories we do not separate them on supporting or leading. If someone puts in a better performance with 10 minutes of screen time versus someone with an hour plus? The better performance deserves the recognition. Now this does not mean we cut down the number of people nominated trying to fit a certain number, if we thought they had an award worthy performance they get nominated, we could end up with three or thirty nominees makes no difference. Excellence deserves recognition.     A secondary reminder movies had to have been released IN 2020 to be considered for HLS Movie Awards, so no matter how much we loved Nomadland or Minari they are not eligible until the 2021 HLS Movie Awards. And thirdly as always with these list they will be in alphabetical order not in any form

HLS Movie Awards Nominees: Best Screenplay and Dialogue

Image
Welcome back to HLS Entertainment! Today we are going over the nominees for the Best Screenplay for the HLS Movie Awards!      Here is how I am grading them. I am not some high school English teacher  going through these scripts with a red pen marking them up, I am going through each movie and grading them off the writing and dialogue within the movie. This is especially dealing with logic and coherency. This does not mean a movie that is deep is thrown out for having confusing concepts, it means I graded them on how well they executed them and if they ultimately made sense. For example, I love Tenet but it is specifically did not make this list because it does spin too far of a web where the confusion is no longer easy to explain. Or Vivarium is wild and wacky plays with deep concepts of reality but ultimately is not coherently done within the movie. Movies that fall under this category are generally a safe bet to find their way to the very tops of my movie rankings because

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Everything you need to know Preview, Breakdown, and Theories

Image
Welcome back to HLS Entertainment where we are breaking down everything you need to know going into Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Names, places, and new faces and all the wild theories you could possibly need going into Disney+'s second MCU show. I was proud how close we nailed most things  going into WandaVision  back in November but like always Kevin Fiege still gave us happy surprises. I do not claim to have any insider information behind the scenes, simply just a grasp on the information and story of MCU that makes even close family and friends go "ooo you know way too much about this".      Falcon and the Winter Soldier was supposed to be the very first MCU Disney+ show but due to covid and the show not being quite finished filming that order had to shift. If you watched WandaVision you saw the wild and wacky of marvel showing tv tropes by the decades that really turned certain people off the first couple episodes. But in Fiege we trust with the MCU and th
