#HLSBets CFB Week 7 Recap, Top 25, Rundown and More!

Welcome back to #HLSBets on HLS Entertainment! We just had another incredible weekend of college football. Every time we think the weekend will be a boring or uneventful weekend of college football it just goes wild and this weekend proved that point. We have a few unanswered questions we all need to be pondering this week like, is Oklahoma back to being a real playoff contender? Is the Big Ten over inflated with easy early season games? Is the ACC just as bad as the Pac 12? Is the SEC down or up this year? Before we get to this weeks rundown please be sure to go hit that follow button on Twitter @HaroldLStokes, now on to this weekends rundown!

Oregon struggled to get their offense going on Friday night but finally got it up in the fourth scoring two touchdowns to regain the lead for the first time since the first quarter and win 24-17 over now 1-5 Cal. In one of the ugliest games imaginable San Diego State beat San Jose State 19-13 in DOUBLE OVERTIME, that's right their game ended 6-6 with only a pair of field goals a piece, I look forward to them losing and falling out of the top 25. Cincy is continuing on the path of a top ranked team, beating down UCF 56-21 making every one happy, at least this beatdown was real not a made up one. It has come to my attention some fans actually think Michigan State is a great team, love to watch and root for them but barely scrapping by with a 20-15 win over now 2-4 Indiana is not top tier team quality. I am sorry for doubting the man at Oklahoma State, this team might actually be good-great unlike the Spartans as they beat Texas 32-24.

And there is life in Auburn Alabama, is Arkansas defense really that bad? They let Bo Nix throw 21/26 in the Tigers 38-23 win. No shoe to be thrown this time just a good old fashion embarassing game by Florida losing to LSU 42-49. Uh oh, the Aggies might finally be showing their potential if they start stringing together some success after beating Missouri 35-14, do not forget this team was a legit title contender preseason. I mean at least Georgia didn't cover, right Kentucky? Losing 13-30 to the most dominant team in the nation is nothing to hang your head at, but potentially losing your coach to LSU?

Not like this Iowa, not like this. We were rooting for your terrible scrappy offense and turnover happy defense you were fun to watch, but losing 7-24 to Purdue is very, very, very embarrassing for a number two team. I guess the spotlight was too bright for the Hawkeyes. Thank you Baylor, now BYU is out of the top 25 and you are rightfully back in after beating them 38-24. Well we all felt sorry for Mississippi State that they had to play Alabama after a loss and the scoreboard showed why, a 49-9 stomping win for the Crimson Tide.

Caleb Williams makes Oklahoma into a legit contender as long as they do not drop any games, they will not win any one loss arguments but they took care of TCU 52-31. Ole Miss beat Tennessee 31-26 in a controversial and embarassing ending in Knoxville, but here is the thing the Vols DID get screwed BUT the way they handled it turned them into the real losers here. Embarrassment to the game. Halfway through their schedule I am not convinced either way about this NC State team, they could easily win the Atlantic Division and play for the ACC title or they could lose out and miss a bowl. I am definitely leaning former over latter and winning 33-7 Boston College is a good step in that direction. Herm I have been hurt before but losing to Utah 21-35 hurt, I guess I need to stay away from betting for or against teams from the state of Utah.

Bets I Should Have Won

Tennessee ML +115 Spread +2

Arizona State ML -115, Spread -1

The same officiating crew that screwed Mississippi State over @ Memphis just screwed Tennessee over at home against Ole Miss. Called back a defensive touchdown and that called short was ridiculous, the ref you called it short was twenty yards away back near the line of scrimmage. I still think that was the first down, but then Tennessee fans made a fool of themselves delaying the game for twenty minutes throwing trash on the field. I get it, you got screwed but come on. Then the worst part is they still had a shot to win getting the ball back with a chance to drive and Hendon Hooker goes down hurt after breaking off a 14 yard run. Milton comes in and just looks completely lost, and I just watch the money go down the drain. I really think Hooker could have pulled it off.

Arizona State man, going into halftime 21-7 and them giving up 28 unanswered points to Utah was embarrassing. Just completely out coached and willed in the second half in a game that Arizona State had in the bag. I am hanging up betting on this team this season.

Heisman Frontrunners

Matt Corral / Bryce Young +175

CJ Stroud +1000

Kenneth Walker III +1200

Desmond Ridder +1600

Bryce Young (20/28 348 yards 4 TDs) and Matt Corral (21/38 231 yards 2 TDs 1 INT 30 carries 195 yards) are safely #1/2 in the Heisman race right now no question. CJ Stroud and Ohio State were on a bye but you know voters like the QB who puts up stats on big name good teams.

Okay listen we have to talk about these last two. Firstly, Kenneth Walker III has been the guy a lot of us have used as we have been trying to find the non QB with stats to be a potential contender because no QB is standing apart. We need to talk about him though, he really is not that great. Trust me I am by no means saying he is bad, dude leads the nation in rushing yards. I am just saying I am not sure it last too much longer. And now Desmond Ridder, he is solely here because he is Cincy's QB at they are currently a top 5 team. The ONLY category statistically he is in the top 20 for is passer rating and he is 18th, which is a crappy made up stat that I hate.

One of the Michigans

Both Michigan and Michigan State have byes this week (well Michigan is playing Northwestern but still) and will face off next week in the first time both teams have been undefeated coming into the game since 2010, 34-17 Spartans win. Before that? 1999 34-31 Spartans win. My point is not that I think State will win but that this is uncommon. And the fault of it being rare is solely on the Spartans. Michigan has a much stronger history of being undefeated coming into this game, meanwhile Michigan State has only done so 2-3 times in the past few decades (possibly further back). We should celebrate this game it is rare air for this rivalry. But, someone has to lose this game, taking their first loss of the season and then both go on to play Penn State and Ohio State. Say what you want about this back loaded schedule the Big Ten has put together but this undoubtedly ugly game will be must watch. The rest of the season can wait. One program and coach on the rise while the other has been faltering yet seems to have have found its footing, but only one team can survive this game.

The State of Oklahoma

7-0 Oklahoma and 6-0 Oklahoma State are both on a collision course towards each other. Oklahoma's remaining schedule is @Kansas, Texas Tech, @Baylor and Iowa State. Oklahoma State's remaining schedule is @Iowa State, Kansas, @West Virginia, TCU, and @Texas Tech. And then Bedlam for both. We have a real shot at 11-0 vs 11-0 and it being the biggest game of the season. Mike Gundy has had a history of blowing a season like this so I am definitely not guaranteeing anything, and this Oklahoma team is just now finding its footing this year and could very easily lose @Baylor. Just my anticipation levels are building for rivalry weekend this year.
